It is important to keep in mind that “giving” is one form of love. It provides a feeling that is similar to the romantic one. In giving we experience imparting a little part of ourselves to contribute to the growth of someone or something else. Cliché as it may sound, in giving, we get more than what we let go.
As the season of love embraces us this February, UP OBEM offers a whole new revitalizing and fulfilling experience for everyone. The fun run entitled: “1,4,3, GO!” will be held this February 27, 2011 with the theme: “Run the Miles. Share the Love.” The said event will be a unique way of celebrating the month of love as people from all walks of life join the run for UP OBEM’s beneficiary—the OPD Pediatric Charity Patients of Philippine Heart Center. It will surely be a hard to miss event for lovers, friends, families and running enthusiasts as a way to spend time with the people they love while experiencing the thrill of running and the gift of giving. PHILIPPINE HEART CENTER: OPD PEDIATRIC CHARITY PATIENTS
The Philippine Heart Center (PHC) is the premiere institution for cardio-related ailments and diseases. Together with all the best doctors in the country, PHC caters to all classes of society, young and old, who seek treatment for their illnesses.
The primary goal of UP OBEM’s fun run entitled: “1,4,3, GO!”, is to help raise funds for the establishment of a recreational area for the OPD (Out-Patient Division) Pediatric Charity Patients of PHC. The recreational area will serve as playroom and study area for the kids who visit the hospital for check-ups, and will be maintained by the Social Services Division of PHC. This project aims to help children recover from their illnesses by putting smiles on their faces and bringing happiness in their hearts.
